Rounding

The Vision application tracks the actual times entered for all Time and Attendance transactions.   No rounding rules apply.  However, with the Rounding function, the times received by Vision from the time collection device can be preprocessed by Val Link to conform with the rounding rules specified here.

Selecting the Rounding function from the Global menu displays the Rounding page.  Rounding is not required but is used by many organizations to simplify payroll calculations. When set, Rounding applies to both scheduled and dynamic shifts.

Rounding rules may be applied at the Company level.  When users clock in or out before/after the actual start or end of their shift (and outside the Grace period, if any), the actual in/out time may be rounded up or down depending on the rule selected.

When a Rounding rule is selected, the system displays the parameters of that rule for review. Click to implement the selected Rounding.

Regardless of the rule selected, Rounding only occurs within the Allowed Clock-In/Clock-Out Rule set in the Range Setup function from the Global menu (see table below).

In the example above, an actual employee punch between 07:30 and 07:55, or between 08:05 and 08:30, is subject to rounding if a Rounding Rule is set.  The punch time recorded may be rounded up or down depending on the rule selected.

Rounding-10

This rule rounds the actual in/out time to the nearest 10-minute clock interval (0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60).  For the example shown in Table 8-3, an actual clock-in time of 07:36 would be rounded to 07:40.

Rounding-15

This rule rounds the actual in/out time to the nearest 15-minute clock interval (0, 15, 30, 45, 60).  For the example shown in Table 8-4, an actual clock-in time of 07:36 would be rounded to 07:30.
